Kehilat Shanghai Community Coordinator

Kehilat Shanghai is looking for a passionate, flexible, and entrepreneurial candidate, who thrives in a self-structured working environment, to be our community coordinator. You’ll need to be friendly, energetic, empathetic and equipped with just the right amount of chutzpah.

You’ll lead the planning and execution of all cultural, educational, holiday-related, and social programing for the community and oversee our Jewish Education Program “Tov!”. We’ll look to you to help secure rabbis from overseas for the High Holidays and Passover and to collaborate with Jewish communities around the region on teen retreats and other activities that leverage each community’s resources for the benefit of all.
As our only full-time professional, you’ll be the main point of contact for members, potential members, and partners. You’ll report to Kehilat Shanghai’s president and work closely with Kehilat’s board of directors to coordinate all aspects of the community, including membership, events, education, and outreach.
Bachelor’s degree or above
2 years’ work experience preferred
Experience planning, managing, and executing events
Ability to create and manage budgets for programs and individual events
Strong negotiating skills
Capacity to work in a flexible manner with multiple Board members
Enjoys working with children and teens
Ability to build, maintain, and develop organizational partnerships
Comfortable leading the occasional Shabbat service
Experience in Jewish community program development or program
Musical skills such as singing or playing guitar a plus
15,000 – 20,000 RMB per month
Flexible working hours, some evenings and weekends required
Wework-like office provided
15 days annual leave
Work visa provided
